Cub Scouts - Pack 145

Richboro, Pa

Parent Information

The information below is required for the Camp Ockanickon trip scheduled October 10th & 11h.

Driver & Auto Insurance Information Needed
Each year, it is necessary for all Cub Scout Packs to collect basic auto insurance and driver's license information for each parent. We are required by the Boy Scouts of America to file "travel permits" with the local Bucks County Council for each trip where scouts are being transported, by car, to a Cub Scout activity. The upcoming camping trip is an example. The purpose of the travel permit is to not only ensure the safety of our scouts but also places those who are driving under the BSA "umbrella" insurance policy should a car accident occur. It does not replace your primary auto insurance but acts as a secondary. Folks who do not submit the necessary information will not be covered under the umbrella policy and will assume full risk should something unfortunate happen.

We will need to collect the following from each family during Saturday's Car Wash - please come prepared with the information:

1. Kind, year & make of vehicles used to "potentially" transport scouts
2. Owner's name
3. Driver's License #
4. Insurance - Liability per person
5. Insurance - Liability per accident
6. Insurance - Property damage

Item's # 4, 5 & 6 can be found on your auto insurance policy

Camping Supplies
All scouts and adult leaders/chaperones should "Be Prepared" and bring the following on all scout camping trips:

1. mess kit,
2. pocket knife,
3. "working" flashlight,
4. camping-style eating utensils (E.g., "spork"),
5. re-useable hot/cold cup and
6. re-useable water bottle
7. Their names should be on the items.

The pack is no longer purchasing, nor providing, plates, cups, plastic silverware, etc. for the trips as it is not environmentally responsible nor cost effective.

I recommend the "old school" aluminum mess kit that can be purchased at Target, Sears, Walmart, Kmart or many sports stores. It costs about $6. Click on the link below to see an example:
